Lord, poison our friends, 2020
11" x 13", framed
Cross-stitch
The phrase “Lord, poison our friends” is a family joke that refers to a misspoken prayer. It materialized as a delicate cross-stitch message in April 2020.
As the COVID-19 pandemic was unfolding over the month of handiwork, groundbreaking paranoia and fear wove themselves into the words. Did someone plant COVID-19 in hopes of a major cut to the human population? Were the “Liberate America” protestors secretly wishing for friends & neighbors to be poisoned as they disobeyed the stay-at-home policy?
